Default What does it take to become a Master Gamer?

Like for Guildwars it takes a person who knows certain math skills and language comprehension to figure out which skills would be great for certain situations. The rest is all motor skills and accuracy, but for someone like me who's motor skills and accuracy is below par would like to know...

Is it talent, practice or intellect to be a true Master Gamer? Like, how do people be selected to become a game tester?

Game tester?
None of the above
It takes good communication skills for the most part, good ability to write out what problems you find.

Just to be a "Master" of a game? Pretty much practice in most cases, just with everything in life.

I would like to note that both written and verbal communication skills are key.

When in doubt...check it out xD

some ANet QA tester contract position

I think what they look for in a game tester is at the bottom under qualifications...although...based on the rest of the employees I think "Passion for Guild Wars" can be ignored.

Probably both, you'd want the guys that play like robots and have to do everything asap (red bull, more red bull, gimme red bull) to help find glitches etc. Also normal players who actually blink to give an opinion on how the overall game is to play to the average Joe. Just my 2 euros

Guild Wars really isn't a hard game to play at a high level. If you are talking about a game like Starcraft, it will take around 12-16 hours per day and 4+ years of practice. There are thousands of books that will teach you how to do practically anything you want, so there is really no use in asking the general public and other people who are not playing professionally. You don't want to necessarily do what professionals do, you have to think like them.

Funny I am playing SC2 more than GW. I find that GW has to do with a lot of micromanaging. I am just concerned that the game is too focused on that.
